For wedding receptions or larger functions, our talented chefs use only the best quality local produce in Muncaster Castle menus. We can offer you and your guests a feast to remember, whether it’s champagne and canapes or a formal dinner.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is the heart of the Castle. Rich colours and dark panelling, along with a pale stone floor, contribute to the atmosphere.

Let your guests mingle and catch up while enjoying a reception drink.

The Drawing Room

The Drawing Roomhas a stunning grey and white plasterwork ceiling giving lovely proportions to this beautiful room. Family portraits decorate the walls. Large windows overlook the Castle Front lawn. A grand piano is available should you wish to have music.

The Dining Room

The Formal Dining Room, with rich green and gilt leather wall coverings boasts bay windows overlooking the Ghyll, home to huge sweeping banks of rhododendron and exotic trees.  The antique walnut table creates a stunning setting and can seat between 10 and 32 for a formal meal, with room for additional tables to seat up to 46 guests.

It also makes the most impressive of settings for boardroom conferencing.

The Family Dining Room

Also known as the Billiard Room, the Family Dining Room, resplendent with 18th century marquetry above the fireplace and wood panelled walls, has a large bay window overlooking the Castle Front Lawns and a magnificent recessed plasterwork ceiling.  This room is always bright and welcoming for guests to enjoy reception drinks, ceremonies, meetings or meals.

Seats up to 50 guests.

The Old Laundry

The refurbished Old Laundry Function Room in the Castle Gardens is available to hire for meetings, less formal buffets and dining as well as for evening receptions and parties, with conference seating or more relaxed seating and dancing space.

For up to 120 guests.


For larger functions, a marquee can be erected on the Castle front lawn. With entry direct from the Castle’s public rooms, this is a luxurious and versatile addition to the rooms available, for conferencing or for celebrations.

As an alternative and for something quirky and original, why not hold your celebration in an event Tipi on the Castle lawns?

Constructed to order for your special event and completely equipped, this is a great way to accommodate a party or wedding reception in the heart of our beautiful gardens.
