To celebrate World Poetry Day we will be presenting a display of original poetry in the Castle. To take part, follow these easy steps:

1. Write your own poem with the theme of ‘A day at the Castle’
2. Decorate your poem in any way you like
3. Send to us

Pieces should be no bigger than 1 A4 sized piece of paper and received by 18th March 2020 and you can come and visit your masterpiece in the Castle between 21st March & 26th April 2020 (during opening hours).

Teddies Go Free at Easter (10th–13th April)

Free entry for every child with a teddy* over the Easter weekend.

Free children’s crafts, face painting, an Easter Egg trail and don’t miss the famous Muncaster Giant Easter Egg Hunt at 12.30 on Easter Sunday and Monday! Register at the Carriage House gift shop by latest 12.15 on the day – places are limited so don’t be late. There is a small charge for this activity.

*One child with their teddy gets free entry with one full entry-paying customer. Not available in conjunction with other promotions, vouchers or offers but valid with tickets purchased online from us. Free entry as usual to gardens and castle to Friends of Muncaster.

Come and celebrate Cumbria’s Fantastic food heritage in Victorious Style!

There is a superb range of gourmet and specialised suppliers from the region bulging with fresh produce for you to try and buy.

Enjoy the Castle, its magnificent gardens, two bird shows and all the fine culinary products the Lakes have to offer. With over 40 stalls we are here to show what puts Cumbria on the map.

We have cookery demonstrations, music, and entertainment all with a 1940’s flavour to help celebrate VE day.

Lots of free fabulous stuff for all ages!

Including a giant inflatable assault course, story trails around the gardens, bouncy castles, Rag Tag Art, Den Making, Pyjama Drama, Circus Skills workshops, Medieval Games and Axe Throwing!

Plus shows from Dan The Hat – juggler extraordinaire, Gacko our current Fool with his orchestra of ukuleles, Abi Collins one of our past Fools will be back on Monday with her hilarious act, plus walkabout entertainment from The Fairly Famous Family (Sunday only)

There will be a food and drink court for you to relax between activities, stalls, a helter-skelter, UV Golf in the Maze, face painting and children’s crafts, all taking place on the front lawn of the Castle.

Think history is dull and boring? Think again, as Muncaster returns to its medieval past for the August Bank Holiday. The Red Wyvern Clifford Household re-enactment society set up camp on the Castle lawns with a schedule of displays and workshops to show what life was like in the past. Normal entry charges apply, with no extra charge for the event, free to Friends of Muncaster.

Dare you visit one of Britain’s most haunted castles this Halloween?! The Muncaster Monster Cabaret with continuous entertainment, the Scary Maze, the Cannon ‘firing’ at 6pm, the Ghostly Grotto with spooky crafts, activities and face-painting and lots more, are all included in Halloween General Entry ticket prices.

See the Hawk & Owl Centre’s fantastic Twilight Owls display when our falconers fly a selection of our beautiful owls in the gardens after dark (separate tickets required), plus other ‘add-on’ activities.

A theatrical event in the Castle and scripted new each year, the Halloween Castle Tour will run at set times through the evenings. These sell out every year so book early to have your choice of date and time. The Castle Tour ticket is a ‘super ticket’ including general entry and daytime Castle visit but not the Twilight Owls.

The site opens from 10.30am through to mid-evening with Halloween activities commencing from around lunchtime.

A fantastic opportunity to visit Muncaster Castle in the evenings to enjoy a simple hot supper plus two breathtaking owl flying displays after dark.

Taking place in December on Saturday 28th November.

These spectacular evenings will begin at 6pm with supper and a talk from one of our expert bird staff before the first display in the Old Rose Garden. Then we take an atmospheric walk through the illuminated gardens past the Castle to the Meadow for the second display.

Tickets can be purchased online and are £31.95 for adults and £15.95 for children aged 3-15yrs.
